20 - The Oakville Beaver Weekend, Saturday March 15, 2008 www.oakvillebeaver.com Be rejuvenated at Oakville's Sanctuary Day Spa Today I took a short vacation to the South Seas... ...At Oakville's Sanctuary Day Spas on Trafalgar Rd. Here exists a portion of paradise. Celebrating 10 years as an exclusive full-service spa, its 'cottagey' curb appeal has lent charm to our community, and health and beauty to its clientele. Working in close cooperation with 7 locations, Sanctuary has earned a reputation of excellence in terms of their professionalism, treatments, services and incomparable customer service. "From the moment one enters you are treated as if a special guest," says Shannon Curley, Manager. "Clients easily spend an entire day simply by visiting the hair salon, followed by lunch, a pedicure and facial of choice." Sanctuary is encouraging Oakville to `Embrace Spring', the spa's theme for their March 3rd-April 13th campaign. Offering a special `Spring Vintage Package', it includes a Muru Aki Massage and Ocean Force Detoxifying Body Treatment for $170. The Muru Aki Massage is one of the spa's 3 `Signature Treatments'...the other two being an Alpine Rose Foot Treatment and Shogami Stem Treatment that exfoliates the skin. In reading this, overcome by temptation, this writer has just shut down her computer and is now enroute for a Muru Aki Massage. Having entered the pale green French door, I slip into comfortable sandals while greeted by Shannon. My coat and my self are gently swept away into the lounge to await my therapist. Handed a glass of lemon chamomile iced tea, I curl up in an elegantly upholstered chair in front of the open fireplace. The surroundings are both lush and subdued in hues of green. Enya-like music plays gently in the background. And then enters Mila. Lovely and soft-spoken, she introduces herself and guides me to my room. I am immediately enveloped into a warm and cozy ambiance of fragrance and well-being. Presented with a Cassis Rufa shell I make a wish, next comes a flowered tray with four bottles of essence. I select Magnolia. The Hawaiian music is playing and I take myself to the South Pacific as Mila begins her magic... Muru Aki - the "touch of fire" - is a unique exotic massage where hot basalt stones and a coolly melting Coconut Tiki unite on the skin with a tropical bloom smell. Warmth floods the body, and the hot/cold interchange stimulates blood circulation resulting in a sensitive skin treatment, deep relaxation and harmony. Mila tells me she too becomes calmed with the warmth and essence. I thank her for treating my body with kindness... Truly, the experience was `pure' and I didn't want it to end. Not ready to leave the spa, I took my `wish' shell and had another glass of tea by the fire. The entire process was soft, sensual and soothing. Most important, it made me feel very happy... Everyone deserves a little luxury. On April 9th Barbette's II on Lakeshore is where `Beauty Meets Fashion'. Sanctuary will be celebrating their anniversary in conjunction with Barbette's II 50th by demonstrating the Muru Aki Massage in their store window from 1-3 pm, including in-store minimassages and makeup applications. Take a trip to paradise...visit `Sanctuary in spring'. And as this writer, you too will find a `pure' happiness. LIVE THE SANCTUARY LIFESTYLE & EXPERIENCE THE DIFFERENCE...
