The cost of a monthly pass will climb to $219 from $214. Similar increases will be seen from the Oakville GO station to downtown Toronto. "Demonstrate dependable GO before asking for more dough," says Eales. "In terms of customer service, it doesn't make sense to impose a higher charge on people frustrated by unreliable service." The petition, Patricia Eales which Eales will be presenting to a meeting of the GO Transit Board of Directors on March 14, appears to have caught the attention of provincial politicians. Oakville MPP Kevin Flynn has issued a press release calling for a vacancy on the GO Transit Board of Directors to be filled by someone with experience in customer service. "I am working with the Minister of Transportation, Jim Bradley, and officials to ensure there is a culture of customer service excellence at GO Transit," said Flynn. "Oakville commuters expect reliable, safe, and punctual daily service. A person with customer service expertise will enhance the board and send a clear message throughout GO Transit." Halton MPP Ted Chudleigh has issued his own press release, throwing his support behind Eales' call for a fare rebate on late trips. "We hear a constant stream of problems regarding cancellations, late service, and overcrowding on trains and in parking lots," said the release. "Those problems are affecting our friends and neighbours and they are fed up. If we want people to choose public transit we have to make public transit attractive constant delays and standing room only are not attractive." Eales says she has spent the last few weeks learning everything she can about how GO operates, so she can make an informed and professional presentation to the board later this month. "I feel as if (the people who have signed the petition) have put their trust in me to say their piece," she says. CANADA'S CHOICE Canada's best selection now comes with MORE CHOICE.
