Morningstar students took part in the Fourth Annual Technical Conference at the Holiday Inn in Oakville. The two-day conference attracted more than 100 participants to learn from instructors from Ontario, Quebec, Nova Scotia, New York, Pennsylvania, Texas, New Mexico and Alaska. The main focus of the seminar was the technical aspect of patterns, although organizer Mike Morningstar also incorporated calisthenics, stretching, fundamental and kicking exercises. Morningstar, the technical director for Ontario, led the opening day of the seminar by covering white belt patterns up to 2nd degree black belt patterns. Master Pierre Laquerre, a 7th degree black belt and the technical director of the Canadian Tae Kwon Do Federation, led the second day, covering 3rd to 6th degree black belt patterns. Three other Taekwon-Do Masters from Quebec, New York and Texas were also in attendance. Morningstar Taekwon-Do will host the Eastern Canadian Championships at Sheridan College March 8. The competition is a selection event for competitors who want to make Canada's national team for the 2009 world championships in Argentina.
