Team meal ends with surprise The Oakville minor atom AA Rangers' recent team meal at Monaghan's Sports Pub & Grill finished with a special treat, but it wasn't ice cream or cake. Rather, it was a chance to hang out with former Rangers player Stefan Legein, a key member of Canada's gold medal-winning junior hockey team last month. Legein, who was already at the restaurant signing sports memorabilia, was asked to spend some time with the team by Rangers manager Renee Serrao. The Cavaliers continued to hit their shots in the second as they extended the lead to as much as 35-15. Though a potential rematch in the final could be just two weeks away, Stewart wasn't worried about tipping his hand. "Every team knows what every other team does," he said. "So then it's just up to us to execute. We know if we execute our own plays, then all we have to worry about is what we can do." That's what King's Christian had to do in its final regular-season game yesterday (Thursday) against the 3-5 Burlington Central Trojans. A victory would not only extend its winning streak, but clinch first place as well. Regardless, the Cavaliers have secured a first-round bye and will host a second-round game Feb. 19. King's Christian's juniors also won, scoring 14 straight points to rally from a 25-15 fourth-quarter deficit to edge Milton 29-27. Ben Stewart led the Cavaliers with 10 points, Cameron Eisses had six and Martin Cho, who scored the winning basket with 36 seconds left, added five. www.oakvillebeaver.com Girls Softball Season Continues This Weekend Winter OGSA Skills Clinics - 5470 Harvester Road, Burlington Age groups and times available on our website www.oakville-soccer.on.ca On-site Registration available from 9am-12pm Bring Your Glove and Play or The Oakville Beaver Sponsored by: A Proud Sponsor of Oakville Soccer Club Register NOW Online www.ogsa.mysportsite.com OGSA needs sponsors and coaches.
