One of the top medal hopefuls for the District team will be Grade 10 student Colleen Hennessy, 15, who won the junior girls' cross-country championship at last fall's Ontario Federation of School Athletic Associations championships. Hennessy will be contesting the 800m race in the 17-and-under girls' division. Another likely contender will be fellow sophomore Chandrika Dawkins, a 16-year-old student at Holy Trinity. She will compete in the 60m, 60m hurdles and 200m events. Jocelyn Carabott, a Heritage Glen student, will also be busy. She will compete in the 60m, long jump and high jump in the 15-and-under division. Other local residents expected to compete are Kelly Hennessy, Courtney den Elzen, Hailey den Elzen, Natalie Hill and Melissa Gabel. The Oakville Track and Field Club/Athletiques International is currently training for the upcoming outdoor season and its busy schedule of school and club competitions.
