www.oakvillebeaver.com The Oakville Beaver Weekend, Saturday January 26, 2008 - 5 Robbers assault clerk Halton Police are seeking the public's help in catching two men who robbed the Oakville Garden Variety Store after assaulting one of its employees. Police said that shortly after 8 p.m. on Thursday two men entered the store, located at 1311 Sixth Line, where they went behind the counter and demanded money from the lone female employee. While one man held the employee, the other attempted to open the cash register, but failed. At this point, the man holding the employee began punching her in the stomach until she opened the register for them. The two men then fled the store with an undisclosed amount of money. Police arrived shortly afterwards, but came up empty handed in their search for the suspects. Both suspects' faces were covered during the robbery,. The first suspect is described as black, 6-feet tall, with an average build and in his late teens. He wore a light grey hooded sweater, dark pants and dark gloves. The second suspect is described as black, 6-feet tall, with an average build and in his late teens. He wore a dark hooded sweater, dark pants and dark gloves. The employee was not injured during the robbery. The Halton Regional Police Service is continuing to investigate this incident.
