28 - The Oakville Beaver Weekend, Saturday January 26, 2008 www.oakvillebeaver.com Let your child's imagination run wild at Thumbprint Adventures, Oakville Your children can canoe on a camping trip, visit the circus or travel on a safari, right here in Oakville with the power of their imagination at Thumbprint Adventures. This enrichment program is designed for children ages 1 _ to 9 and equips children with new intellectual, physical and social skills in every class. Thumbprint Adventures is the premier child development program where each week children experience a unique, fun-filled, action-packed, theme-based adventure, full of song, movement, creativity and fun. "It is what a child really needs," says Lisa Boulanger, owner/director of Thumbprint Adventures. Created by Speech Pathologist Dr. Karen Haplern, the program follows a unique interactive curriculum that stimulates all areas of a child's development. Boulanger, who is a nurse by profession, is also a mother of two young children, so she knows the importance of cultivating a child's creativity and thinking skills, and she brings her enthusiastic and playful energy to the Thumbprint Adventures' studio. A lot of interesting things happen at Thumbprint, and the staff is made up mostly of actors who engage the children with their spontaneity, creativity and spirit. During each program the children begin with free play and then experience a different adventure at every class. Throughout the adventures there are always different activities, including a theme based craft. "In these classes the children are socializing and making friends, it is really amazing to see. Parents can see such a difference in their child." The classes teach the children a lot of teamwork, while boosting their creative thinking and self confidence. Boulanger adds, "There are no wrong answers; we are always open to ideas." The classes are focused on indirect education, "the children don't realize they are actually learning a lot from Thumbprint. It's a magical experience that empowers them." Thumbprint also offers winter break, March break and summer camps, and have fantastic birthday parties. Since Thumbprint opened in 2006, they've had 100s of satisfied birthday boys and girls, having many claiming, `This is the best birthday party I have ever been to!' The birthday parties consist of a fully interactive adventure with 38 themes to choose from. For the parents, Thumbprint hosts a monthly date night drop off, run for four hours on a Friday evening, so parents can have a night out and drop their children off to be entertained. In 2007, Thumbprint was the proud winner of two Diamond Awards from The Oakville Beaver: Best Indoor Play Centre and Best Children's Programming. Boulanger says, "From beginning to end children integrate every skill they have by adding new skills and they interact in ways that no school can offer. They are being immersed in a magical experience that they will remember forever." So make sure your child does not miss out on the adventure.
