Blakelock's Grade 10 drama class production, The Way the Cookie Crumbles, which is set to tour several local elementary schools. Chaos has been the order of the day recently in the Rebecca Street high school's studio theatre as students filed in and out with props and scripts to ensure absolute perfection for their debut performance yesterday for Brookdale Public School students. "The play is a story about a dog called Timmy that is W exceedingly forgetful. Timmy is friends with a newlywed gingerbread man couple, Mr. And Ms. Gingie," said Grade 10 student Madeline Bonadeo. "Mr. Gingie informs Timmy of his departure for his honeymoon, and reminds him to tell others, but obviously Timmy forgets. Resulting from his forgetfulness, a search breaks out in the thought that Mr. And Ms. Gingie were kidnapped, missing or ran away." Added classmate Emma Kowal, "Touring with the play will allow our class to entertain children. It will give us a chance to allow children to watch a play, for those who haven't seen one before. Its basic creation was just to entertain kids." The play is for audiences aged three to eight (Kindergarten to Grade 3). All aspects of the show have been created by the students, including the writing of the script, costume design, building of the set and choreography. "It's a lot of work. Sometimes you have to stay in at lunch to rehearse and to complete the choreography," said Bonadeo. The entire class worked for more than a month in anticipation of staging The Way the Cookie Crumbles.
