16 - The Oakville Beaver, Friday December 7, 2007 www.oakvillebeaver.com United Way agencies help those in need If you've fallen on hard times, you're not alone. Perhaps you're like `John'. He forgets things, like where he lives, where he's going, sometimes even his wife's name. Or `Dan,' who, because of a few bad financial decisions, can't pay his monthly bills and is at risk of losing his home. And `Mary.' Her bruises are covered by her clothing, but you can still see the fear in her eyes. Thankfully, these people found the courage and the strength to seek help from a United Way funded agency. Many of us have never had to use the service of a United Way agency. But life is unpredictable and you never know when your circumstances many change. Every citizen deserves the opportunity to live with dignity, and live life to the fullest. The agency programs and services supported by United Way of Oakville help people in need, and ensure a healthier community for us all. Unfortunately, while United Way agencies do help more than 42,000 someone -- a friend, neighbour or family member -- is facing one of life's more serious challenges, they will have somewhere to turn. We're proud of our agencies and the work they do, and we want you to know they're there for you, should you or someone you know ever need a hand. This year, United Way of Oakville's campaign goal is $2.25 million.
