www.oakvillebeaver.com The Oakville Beaver, Wednesday December 5, 2007 - 39 OCS welcomes new accompanist The Oakville Choral Society has a new accompanist on board in Anne Marie Leonard. A professional pianist and organist, Leonard has enjoyed a multi-faceted career, spanning a wide range of music genres. As a pianist, she is proficient in a variety of styles including classical, ragtime, jazz, popular standards, Broadway, Celtic, country and old rock 'n roll. A graduate of the Royal Conservatory of Music under Clifford Poole, Leonard has played piano professionally since the age of 14. She was one half of Reilly, a popular duo that performed regularly at the King Edward and Royal York Hotels, as well as at corporate and private parties. She then toured the United States with The New Vaudeville Band (Winchester Cathedral). In 1987, Leonard also performed a classical concert at a luncheon honouring Prince Andrew and Fergie, at the inauguration of the new Mississauga Civic Centre. Leonard currently plays during lunchtime at The Bay's Arcadian Court. She also performs "open mic" and singalong shows in many venues. Leonard is a musical theatre director, and a coach and accompanist for several singers and instrumentalists, as well as being the organist and musical director of Mimico Presbyterian Church. She accompanies several local choirs, ranging from elementary school children to adult professionals. She also teaches piano, arranges music, and continues to enjoy a diverse and rewarding musical career. Leonard has been working with OCS this fall as the group prepares for its upcoming Christmas concert, A Christmas Festival, which will take place at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 14 and Saturday, Dec. 15, at Christ Church, 1700 Mazo Crescent, Clarkson.
