Friday evenings there will be strolling carolers to liven up the streets with their holiday serenades. Be on the lookout for the big guy in red as Santa will also be around town. New this year on Saturday afternoons is the Santa Express. From noon to 4 p.m., take advantage of the free double-decker shuttle bus to help you get around downtown Oakville. The bus will stop at each block on the south side of Lakeshore Road East to let people on and off. Not only is the shuttle bus a convenient way to get to your favorite store, it is also a unique experience for kids of all ages to enjoy. The carolers will be strolling the streets on Saturday afternoons bringing songs of the season to downtown Oakville. On Sundays, downtown Oakville will once again be offering free horse-and-wagon rides for the whole family. The sleigh will be departing from Towne Square every half hour from noon to 4 p.m. and Santa will be on board. The carolers will once again be singing holiday classics through the streets of downtown Oakville. Mrs. Claus has also come in from the North Pole to visit the good folks of Oakville every Sunday. With over 450 shops, services, and boutiques, downtown Oakville has something for everyone on your list. Staff members from the Beaver's circulation department and City Parent & Forever Young will be adopting the kettle at Hopedale Mall on Dec. 17-18. To meet its goal, the Salvation Army needs volunteers for individual shifts and other firms and organizations to adopt kettles for a day.
