44 - The Oakville Beaver, Friday November 23, 2007 Storewide Savings 30% Of f Off of * Get Ready for the Holidays with www.oakvillebeaver.com Time for traditional feast Guests will be welcomed by the sound of distant bagpipes at the Halton Region Museum's Historic Christmas Feast on Saturday, Nov. 24. The festive evening includes a dinner of traditional period fare and lively entertainment in honour of the pioneering Alexander family who farmed the site of the museum from 1836 to 1961. The evening is part of Milton's 150th Anniversary celebration and is being held as a fundraising event for the Halton Museum Foundation. The festivities begin at 6 p.m. in the Alexander Barn with Scotch tasting in the Loft Room followed by a full evening of food and spirited entertainment in the historic Hearth Room. A traditional menu will be served with main course selections that include potted goose in port wine galantine, roast turkey with oyster and chestnut dressing, and braised leg of mutton with caper sauce. As per tradition, the fourcourse meal will be served "family style" and will end with plum pudding flambé. In keeping with the Alexanders' Scottish heritage, the evening's entertainment will be provided by Tom Leadbeater & the Spirit of Nova Scotia with three-time Canadian Grandmaster fiddle champion Mark Sullivan. James Gordon, a Scottish Canadian singer and songwriter, will also be on hand to perform original and traditional songs from a Canadian perspective. Tickets are $100 per person and can be purchased by calling 905-875-2200, ext. 21. Tickets must be purchased in advance and tax receipts will be issued for a portion of the ticket price.
