www.oakvillebeaver.com The Oakville Beaver, Wednesday October 17, 2007 - 25 her Trick Or Treat: Candy safety tips for your kids! Ghouls and goblins are getting ready to go out for a night of tricks and treats. Before you let them start digging into the treats, it's important to make sure that they're enjoying them safely. Here are a few candy safety tips from the makers of Twizzler. · Children should only accept commercially wrapped candy. · Parents of young children should remove any choking hazards such as gum, hard candies or small toys from candy bags. · Make sure your children know not to dig into their treats until they're back home and you've had the chance to examine them. · Involve your children in the candy sorting process by creating a sorting room at home. Go through the candy together and remove any unwrapped items or choking hazards. · In addition to your regular Halloween trick or treats, for children with peanut allergies or who may have friends with peanut allergies, be sure to stock products that are identified as being made in a peanut free facility like Twizzlers and Nibs candies. These can be easily recognized by the peanut free logo on the packaging. · Always read food ingredient lists carefully. - News Canada halloween her Palermo Pizza Makes 1 thick Pizza, 14 x 10 inches 2 recipes Sicilian Pizza Dough (right), making indicated changes 1/3 cup olive oil, plus extra to drizzle 1 large onion, sliced 3 large ripe tomatoes, chopped 1 teaspoon dried oregano, plus extra to taste 8 anchovy fillets in oil, drained and chopped 1 cup dried bread crumbs 21/2 ounces dried caciocavallo (or Emmental), cubed Sea salt and freshly ground pepper To make the recipe, you'll need a rectangular baking pan, 14 x 10 x 11/4 inches, oiled. You'll also need a testo, terra cotta baking stone, or a large, heavy baking sheet. When you make the pizza dough, replace the lemon juice with olive oil. Rise once, then punch down the air, knead lightly, and roll or pull into a rectangle that will fit into the prepared baking pan. Cover the pan lightly with plastic wrap or a damp kitchen towel and leave in a warm place to rise until it has reached the top of the pan (about 30 minutes). While the dough is rising, put the testo, baking stone or a large, heavy baking sheet on the lower shelf of the oven. Preheat the oven to 425 F for at least 30 minutes. To make the sauce, heat 4 tablespoons of the olive oil in a saucepan and add the onion. Cook until soft but not colored, then add the tomatoes, dried oregano and anchovy fillets. Cook for 5 minutes until the anchovies dissolve and the tomatoes collapse. Season to taste. Heat the remaining olive oil in a skillet and fry the bread crumbs until golden and crisp. When the dough has risen, uncover and dimple the top lightly with your fingers as if you were making focaccia, but don't make too many holes. Spread with half of the sauce and bake for 25 minutes. Remove from the oven, spread the remaining sauce over the top, scatter over the bread crumbs and extra oregano, and drizzle with olive oil. Finish by scattering the caciocavallo over everything, then bake for another 5 minutes until the top is golden. Serve warm or cold, cut into squares. recipe HER quick survey We surveyed 25 women and asked them... What are your favourite baby names for 2007? TOP GIRL NAMES: TOP BOY NAMES: 1. Victoria 2.
