38 - The Oakville Beaver, Friday October 12, 2007 www.oakvillebeaver.com Croatian Pavilion at Carousel of Nations Entertainers need more members A local male barbershop choir the Entertainers is looking to expand its membership. The a cappella chorus currently has 30 active members in Halton, Peel and Hamilton. The choir hopes to expand to 40-45 members to make sure it can meet increasing demand for performances. Let's Make Harmony is a get-acquainted evening, providing an opportunity for prospective and curious singers to experience the basics of four-part male harmony. Chorus VP of Chapter Development Tom Pritchard says neither previous chorus experience nor the ability to read music is essential to take part in Let's Make Harmony. Let's Make Harmony takes place Monday, Oct. 15 from 7-9:30 p.m. at The Entertainers' rehearsal hall, Kinark Family Services (Syl Apps Youth Centre), 475 Iroquois Shore Rd. For more information, contact Brian Yager at 905-847-8220 or email byager3@cogeco.ca. C roatian Folklore Ensemble "Hrvatsko Prelo" is proud to join other ethnic groups in the Carousel of Nations on Sunday, Oct. 20 to host the Croatian Pavilion. We are a Croatian folklore dance group; founded in 1978. We work hard to educate both Croatian-Canadians and Canadians on the Croatian culture through song and dance. Croatia's geography is diverse with flat plains along the Hungarian border, low rolling mountains near the Adriatic coast and islands, and densely wooded areas in the inland regions of Lika and the Dinaric Alps. Croatia is famous for its beautiful On Site Estate National Parks including the waterfall sights of the Plitvicka Jezera and Slapovi Krke. The Croatian coast is home to more than 900 islands, and for this reason Croatia is often referred to as "The Land of a Thousand Islands" While at our pavilion your senses will be excited as you hear the sounds of Croatia and view our colorful traditional dress and displays. You will see spectacular shows filled with lively dances from various parts Croatia. We will also present a medley of songs played on our traditional instrument called the tamburica. There will be live music all day; so come by and join the festivities. While enjoying our show, have a little taste of Croatia. We promise you will come back for more, as your appetite will blossom when you sample some of our delectable foods. -- Submitted by the Croatian Folklore Ensemble.
