Ghost walks, crafts and movies are on the bill every remaining Friday of the month ­ Oct. 12, 19 and 26. The Towne Square will also feature free Halloween crafts including drawing and pumpkin decorating from 6:30 ­ 7:30 p.m. each of the Friday evenings. Oakville residents are encouraged to get in the Halloween spirit with pumpkin decorating, Halloween colouring and other crafts for the kids to enjoy. People are also invited to dress up in their Halloween costumes to get in the scary spirit. Complimentary cookies and hot chocolate will be served. Tonight, Friday, Oct. 12, guests from the 150th Event Team will be performing the Heritage Hustle. Beachy Keen will be on hand to provide free popcorn. People are encouraged to bring their own chair or blankets to enjoy the family rated `G' features, provided by Encore Cinemas of Oakville. Ratatouille, a film about Remy the little rat with big dreams of becoming a world-class chef, will be screened tonight. On Friday, Oct. 19, Monsters Inc. will be shown. Friday, Oct. 26 is a double feature. The first feature is Pooh's Heffalump Halloween Movie, a tale of adventure, friendship and more. The second feature is Hocus Pocus, staring Bette Midler and Sarah Jessica Parker. It's a family friendly film about witches who cast a whole bunch of hocus pocus. The ghost walks are coordinated by the Oakville Historical Society, a volunteer organization that has been making a significant contribution to local heritage activities for more than fifty years. People are invited to walk along the historical and ghostly streets of Downtown Oakville and learn the fascinating history in the downtown's 150th year. The cost is $12 per adult and $6 per child for the hour long tour. The walks begin at the society's office, 110 King St., and end there with refreshments.
