The Green Party of Ontario is the only party in this election that has a constructive and comprehensive plan of how to change Ontario into a sustainable province with a durable economy and healthy population. I urge you to go to our website gpo.ca and read our platform. Then you will know that the only meaningful vote is the vote for the Green Party. budget and work toward a surplus. Our party is dedicated to fixing the downloading of Provincial services to the municipalities. I believe in a fair taxation system that doesn't favour the highest income people (two per cent) over the rest of Halton's working families. The NDP will pay 50 per cent of the operating cost of public transportation, 100 per cent of the cost of disability payments, and their medical plan. These are provincial responsibilities downloaded by the conservatives to the Halton tax-payer. To the concern of fiscal responsibility, look at Dalton McGuinty's government. They went into power with a large deficit, (left by the Conservatives), did nothing but collect our money, and now have a surplus. The money is there. Vote for Pat Heroux. Vote for fairness for Halton's hard-working families. I should be elected in Halton because we need a voice that knows the whole varied riding, and understands the competing concerns of surrounding areas. We need someone who can negotiate the complexities of government and deal with the complex personalities and agendas that together propel our concerns forward. Halton is growing too fast and we need to have someone who knows how to juggle the competing interests and understands that if we drop a ball, there are profound consequences for you, me, our families and our neighbours. I should be elected because I will stand up for the interests and desires of Halton residents first. have the fourth lowest wait time for cancer surgery in the province. We are also putting more GO buses on the road, improved train service on the Milton and Lakeshore corridors, and more parking spaces at GO Stations. But there is still more to do. This election is about protecting the investments that Ontario Liberals have made in publicly-funded schools and universal health care. I will put the public interests of Halton residents ahead of private interests. The only way to do this is to vote Liberal on Oct. 10. Thank you for your support. DON'T DRINK & DRIVE! Kortney was a whirlwind, always on the go. She loved soccer, and loved "hanging out" with her Dad, my husband Terry. Even in first grade she was excelling in School. There was never a dull moment! But Kortney's gone. Terry and I and Kortney's older sister, Kodi, will spend the rest of our lives without this bright light. She was taken from us by a 17-year-old who had been up all night and had been drinking at a house party just a block from where we live. I was driving that morning, in our minivan. Kortney and Kodi were with me in the van as were my sister, Roxanne and her little boy Kolten. We were stopped at a road construction site, with four cars in front of us, waiting to be passed through. But the 17-year-old driver who had consumed alcohol didn't stop. He plowed into the back of our Save some lives, Have A Safe Thanksgiving Holiday! first is to join MADD Halton & Peel Chapter and support the kinds of programs and efforts that can put an end to Canada's impaired driving nightmare. Second, I ask you, please, to tell one person, today not to drink and drive. Ask that person to tell one other person. If we all do that, keep that chain intact and growing, we can save lives, we will save lives. Rhonda Burge P.S. Talking about Kortney's death is not easy for me and never will be. Terry and I do it as often as we can, because we believe it will help convince others of the dangers we face from impaired driving all across Canada. Please join us in spreading the word! My daughter Kortney was only 6 years old. She was so special, so wonderful. van, driving it into the cars in front of us. Kortney was killed outright. The rest of us suffered severe injuries. The driver who hit our van escaped without injury. And to this very day, my anguish over Kortney's loss is made even worse by the fact that the boy who killed her has never shown any remorse, none at all, for what he did! I'm not telling you about Kortney to ask for your sympathy. I'm asking you for something else entirely. I'm asking you to join me in fighting to keep what happened to Kortney and to us from happening to others maybe even someone in your family. If we can prevent even one death from impaired driving, perhaps Kortney's death will at least have some meaning. So I'm asking you today to do two things, really.
