The school located at 1079 Linbrook Rd. will open its doors from 5:30-8 p.m. and everyone is welcome. Among the features, visitors will be able to experience the recreated 1932 oneroom school; view historical memorabilia, attend presentations by current Linbrook students, attend a tree planting ceremony, reconnect with former classmates and friends and participate in a massive balloon launch (6 p.m., weather permitting). All attendees can purchase a balloon for release en masse during the open house that will be tracked for four weeks. The owner of the balloon that travels the farthest wins a prize. All proceeds will support the Terry Fox Foundation. Keepsakes of Linbrook will be available to purchase or order including: a limited edition Linbrook watercolour painting and note cards by local artist Kathy Haliday, an engraved walkway stone, a commemorative DVD and a 2007-2008 yearbook. Sheridan hosts Oakville candidates debate Monday The battle for the votes of the people of Oakville continues with an all-candidates debate slated for the Sheridan Institute of Technology and Advanced Learning on Monday, Sept. 24. Taking place at 10 a.m. the debate will feature New Democratic candidate Tony Crawford, Oakville Green Party candidate Marion Schaffer, Liberal candidate Kevin Flynn and Progressive Conservative candidate Rick Byers.
