www.oakvillebeaver.com The Oakville Beaver, Wednesday September 19, 2007 - 35 Radio show evolved into Motorcycle Life Continued from page 32 Halton Hills environment," said Weller. "We're blessed to be in this area. We're on the lake, and then you can go up to the country in Halton Hills. We have it all." While the TV pilot will cover specific motorcycle details, including experts giving technical tips and a spot on how to wash and wax your bike, the onehour episode will go beyond the realm of the bike itself. "It's a lifestyle show, using motorcycles as the hook, but you don't have to have a motorcycle to enjoy it," Weller said. "We'll be discussing where to eat, where to shop things beyond motorcycles. There's that lifestyle aspect." With 70 per cent of all new motorcycle registrations in the country happening in Ontario, there's a big enough market from just motorcyclists alone. "The motorcycle industry is on a huge increase," said Weller, who added the number of females riding bikes is on the rise every year. For motorcycle enthusiasts a term Weller prefers to `bikers' there's nothing like the open road. "It gives you a reason to get out and enjoy the fresh air," he said. "When you're on a motorcycle, you're not looking for something to do. You're already doing it." One of two Harleys Weller owns, an orange and black cruiser, was parked in his driveway, with part of his nickname, Scotty-too-Hotty, on the licence plate. "I like to have fun," he said, explaining how he earned the name. "I like to make sure everyone around me has fun. It has nothing to do with looks or anything." That personality and, it should be noted, Weller once posed as a Sunshine Boy for The Toronto Sun "People ended up really enjoying this show we did for radio, even though it was just a mock of a show. We realized there's a lot of people that would love to watch the show on TV." Motorcycle Life host Scott Weller It has always been there for every Jew... ...and so are we! Start your New Year with the most meaningful and inspiring helped land him the hosting job. The idea for the show began when some friends approached him to host a radio talk-show about motorcycles. "They needed a personality," Weller said. "I've got the gift of the gab, and I'm very entertaining when I'm let loose on a microphone." The group went ahead and recorded the pilot for the radio show, but also got it on videotape. "People ended up really enjoying this show we did for radio, even though it was just a mock of a show," Weller said. "We realized there's a lot of people that would love to watch the show on TV." So, the talk-show radio idea grew and took on another form. "We decided to look at it as more of a lifestyle show, using motorcycles as the hook," Weller said. TVCOGECO got on board after seeing the pilot, and offered to shoot a more professional pilot. David Bartlett is the producer, and TVCOGECO executives say depending on how the pilot does, they'll determine if the show will continue on the network. Half of tomorrow night's pilot will be live, so the discussion will be dictated by viewers. "It's very important to me to have an interactive environment," said Weller.
