24 - The Oakville Beaver, Friday September 14, 2007 www.oakvillebeaver.com Annual Terry Fox Run at Abbey Park this Sunday T his year marks the 27th Anniversary of the Terry Fox Run and all Oakville residents are invited to join Terry's Marathon of Hope this Sunday at Abbey Park Secondary School, 1455 Glen Abbey Gate (next to the Glen Abbey Recreation Centre on Third Line south of Upper Middle Road). The Run begins at 10 am, with registration beginning at 9 a.m. Terry Fox ran a marathon a day in 1980 ­ but you can keep his dream alive even if you don't run. Participants can choose to run, walk, bicycle, or inline skate either a 5K or 10K route. The Opening Ceremonies will commence at 9 a.m. and will be hosted by Dan Ferrone. Entertainment and children's activities will be taking place throughout the morning. The Kinsmen will be selling "ham and eggs on a muffin" beginning at 8.30 a.m. until 11 a.m. A limited number of Terry Fox T-shirts will be available at a cost of $15 for adults and $10 The Regional Municipality of Halton www.halton.ca for children. Pledge sheets are available at all Town recreation centres and various businesses throughout Town. Registration is also available on site on the day of the Run. You can also register online at www.terryfoxrun.org. Terry Fox said, "How many people do something they really believe in? I just wish people would realize that anything's possi- ble, if you try; dreams are made, if people try." Terry Fox was only 22 years old when he died, but he made a monumental impact in that short time. Now it is up to each of us to keep Terry's dream alive by participating in the annual Terry Fox Run.
