The squad, comprised of girls age 10 and under, won its first four contests with relative ease before meeting its match in the final. Oakville defeated the Stratford Flames 18-2, Windsor Lady Expos 16-1 and North Mississauga Tigers 17-6 in round-robin play, then downed the Brantford Bobcats 9-6 in the semifinal. The Guelph Gators, however, ended Oakville's goldmedal hopes with a 9-5 win over the Angels in the championship game. Janelle Brown and Taylor Kangas combined to pitch all the games for the Angels, also contributing offensively with nine and six hits, respectively. Laura Carabott, Alex Jackson, MacKenzie Philpott and Maddie MacGrandle also keyed the Oakville attack. Carabott finished the tournament with four singles, a double, two triples and five RBI; Jackson had three singles, two triples and four RBI; Philpott recorded six singles, a double and four RBI; and MacGrandle added two singles, two doubles and four RBI. The Angels team also accepted a silver medal for one of its former players, Alison Bogar, who moved to Prince Edward Island with her family two months ago. Coached by Ian Abbott, Tania Breznik, Greg Cowan, Mary Dagg and Carol McClary, the Angels played in six tournaments this season and finished second in the year-end playoffs of the Peel-Halton League.
