Oakville defeated Owen Sound and Milton by 2-0 scores and tied St. Catharines 1-1 in round-robin play, then earned a spot in the final with a 3-0 win over Erin Mills. In the gold-medal game, Rachel Bright scored the game-winner in the Strikers' 3-2 triumph over St. Catharines. Haleigh Hutchinson netted five goals in Oakville's final two games and was named the championship game's MVP. Bethany Greer and Courtney Clarke also earned player-of-the-game honours during the competition. The Strikers, who previously won tournaments in Ancaster and Burlington this year, also feature Mikaela Lowe, Dana Seagrove, Cassi Ellis, Taylor Wade, Caroline O'Brien, Jess Purvis, Lydia Gibson, Maddie MacDonald, Mannie Montelpare, Lauren Rzepecki, Holly Miller, Gillian Sandison, Morgan Caissie, Alyssa Miocevich, Rachel Worton, Sarah MacDowell and Hailey Francis. The Hawks defeated Sarnia 7-1, Brampton 12-0, Guelph 92 and Burlington 6-5 at the Guelph tournament, rallying from a 4-0 deficit to defeat Burlington in the final. In Calgary, Oakville beat the Calgary Sabrecats 10-1, Lethbridge 9-1, Calgary Axemen 11-1, Okotoks Mustangs 12-1 and Saskatoon 10-5. The mosquito AAA A's earned a spot at provincials with an impressive comeback in their tournament final, overcoming a 12-3 deficit against the Brampton Braves to score 17 unanswered runs and triumph 20-12. Members of the team are A.J. Smith, Alex Fulton, Andrew Yancan, Graeme Rourke, Josh Coish, Kyle Carey, Daniel Ohorodnyk, John Whaley, Jason Provost, John Moate, Lee Joch, Matthew Pilarczyk and Keenan Lutzko. Dwayne Smith, John Holloway, Bob Lutzko, Dave Fulton and Mike Provost coach the club. Meanwhile the minor mosquito AA team proved its Central Ontario Baseball Association regular-season title was no fluke, winning the league's playoff championship as well. The A's whipped the Mississauga Majors 13-3 in the COBA tournament final in Waterdown, completing a 4-1 REPBASEBALL playoff showing. Oakville actually lost its first game of the playoffs, 7-6 to the Burlington Bears, but took advantage of the double-knockout format to rally for the championship win. Oakville left little to chance in the final against the Majors, rolling out to a 9-0 lead by the middle of the third inning. Mississauga narrowed the gap to 9-3, but the A's tacked on four more runs for the decisive victory. Earlier in the tournament, Oakville routed the secondranked Brampton Braves 14-2, smothered Georgetown 131 and pounded Mississauga 29-5. Tyler Elson, Zach Stamegma, Oliver Tretop, Spencer Walker, Spencer Douglas, Austin Gerow, Dallas Taylor, Vincent Reale, Glenn MacAleer, Matt Vukojevic, Tyler Rymal and Ben Bernier played for the club this year, which was coached by Clark Rymal, Allan Elson, Miro Vukojevic and Brian Stamegma.
