The trio was greeted by a Town Hall rally where they enjoyed cake with family, friends and well wishers, but not before receiving some equally well-earned praise from Town officials. "On behalf of council, Mayor Burton and really for that matter all of the citizens of Oakville, you are to be commended," said Ralph Robinson, Ward 1 Town Councillor. "We are very proud of your cross Canada motorcycle ride for the purposes of achieving greater recognition of the need for tissue and organ donation. We wish you all the very best of luck in what you are doing for Canada." Besides raising awareness, the group also hopes to raise $100,000 for equipment in transplant centres across Canada. The roots of this quest stretch back nearly two years when Olivo-Crawford was nearly killed by Hepatitis C, a disease she was not even aware she had for 30 years. "My liver was failing," she said. "I was put on a transplant list and would wait with a pager in hand for probably three or four years. The typical wait time is now six years. Lucky for me, Rob decided to donate. I know this was a hard decision to make and I thank you Rob, you saved my life." "I'd do it again," Crawford responded.
