Beyond the Apple The passion and purpose of the divine couple, is a body of work that includes earthy tones and abstracted approaches. The official opening will be from 6-8:30 p.m. Tuesday. "Traditionally, the divine couple in the Celtic tradition is a symbol depicting the partnership of mother goddess with mortal rulers," Smith said, explaining the show's subject matter. "The sacred union of spiritual and worldly forces ensures peace and harmony and a blessing on the land and its people." The divine couple, she continued, "is a symbol of friendship and signifies the cooperation of the feminine and masculine energies of the earth. The merging of these energies creates new life and life forces, balance and fulfillment on life's journey." The opening reception will also give viewers an opportunity to preview some of the work on display in September's Hills of Erin Studio Tour, a preview of the artwork for CJ Martin and Smith's new book, to be published next spring.
