Officials from the Human Resources Development Canada Labour Program are investigating the incident. Two die in sewer tragedy By Krissie Rutherford OAKVILLE BEAVER STAFF OAKVILLE DODGE We're Moving to Trafalgar Rd. NOW UNDER CONSTRUCTION Looking for full time Detailer & Sales People The New Two construction workers were killed by noxious fumes while working in an underground sewer near Third Line and North Service Road Thursday morning. The two men were pronounced dead after rescue workers pulled their unconscious bodies from the manhole, police say. An investigation is currently underway to determine what substance caused their deaths. The victims have been identified as a 33year-old Brampton man and a 52-year-old Binbrook resident. Their names had not been released as of press deadline yesterday. Employees of Mississauga-based Wesbell Technologies, the men were working on telecommunications wiring in the manhole when "they were overcome," said Deputy Fire Chief Bob Sumak. "We're not sure by what, but they passed out in there." Sumak said the men were working on cabling in a vault within the sewer which he described as a "big cement room" when they passed out. After being alerted by a co-worker, the Fire Department used rope to pull the men from the sewer just before 10:30 a.m. Police say they had no vital signs at the time. 646 4th Line at Speers Rd. 905.845.4211 careers@oakvilledodge.com sales@oakvilledodge.com See Accident page 3 Oakville's largest selection of Natural Limestone and Hardwood · Custom Quality Workmanship 35 YEARS OF EXPERIENCE IN TILE INSTALLATION LARGEST SELECTION OF WOOD FLOORING OVER 500 SAMPLES ON DISPLAY GRANITE COUNTERTOPS BUY DIRECT FROM THE IMPORTER LARGE SELECTION OF NATURAL LIMESTONE & PORCELAIN TILE Monday to Friday 7:30am-6:00pm · Saturday 7:30am-5:00pm · Closed Sunday 243 SPEERS ROAD, OAKVILLE · 905.338.1288
