Oakville has three beaches safe for swimming, according to Halton Region's Health Department. Coronation Park East, Coronation Park West and Bronte Park Beach were all deemed safe for swimming as of press deadlines yesterday. Water samples taken earlier this week showed the beach waters have acceptable levels of bacteria. After testing recreational water throughout Halton, beaches are selected based on use for swimming and other water sports. These tests are done weekly, or if conditions change. Other area beaches that were deemed good to go include The Beachway North and the Beachway South in Burlington, Kelso Conservation Area in Milton, and Prospect Park Old Beach in Halton Hills. Residents can call Halton Region to find out which beaches have been closed due to poor water quality. Beach quality information is available 24 hours a day by calling 905-825-6000 or toll free 1-8664HALTON (1-866-442-5866).
