www.oakvillebeaver.com The Oakville Beaver Weekend, Saturday June 23, 2007 - 5 DAVID RITCHIE / SPECIAL TO THE BEAVER DEREK WOOLLAM / OAKVILLE BEAVER WORKER INJURED: A Milton construction worker was seriously injured by a fallen pop machine (left) in northwest Oakville and was airlifted by helicopter (right) at West Oak Trails and Bronte Road on Friday. Construction worker injured by falling pop machine A 23-year-old man from Milton was seriously injured after being pinned under a pop machine at a housing construction site in Oakville yesterday. Shortly after 1 p.m., the Halton Regional Police Service, Halton EMS and the Oakville Fire Department were called to a construction site located at the corner of Ridgeview Road and Colonel Williams Street to assist an injured man. The police investigation suggests that the man, employed by a local excavating company, was attempting to purchase a pop from the machine when it fell forward and landed on him. Other workers came to his aid and managed to pull the machine off, but the lifethreatening nature of his injuries required him to be evacuated by air ambulance to Sunnybrook Hospital. The identity of the man is being withheld pending notification of his family. The Ministry of Labour has been contacted and has taken charge of the investigation. New Patients Welcome!
