That's why the Heart and Stroke Foundation has pioneered the use of tPA, a clot-busting drug that, when accessed quickly, can actually reverse these effects for strokes caused by blood clots, which account for 80% of cases. So for many, it's as if the stroke never happened. According to the Registry of the Canadian Stroke Network for 2005-2006, 32% of stroke patients received tPA at specialized stroke centres in Ontario, a rate that is among the highest in Canada and around the world. Before the Ontario Stroke System was established six years ago, the rate was less than 10%. something about stroke Wyndham Manor 291 Reynolds Street, Oakville Tel: (905)849-7766 Fax: (905) 849-4825 email: mbouillon@extendicare.com Public awareness the vital link to survival Early, accurate diagnosis of stroke is a critical component of optimal stroke care. In 2003, only 52% of Ontario adults 45 and over could name two or more stroke warning signs. In 2005, after the stroke public awareness campaign was launched on television, the number jumped to 72%. 3170 Ridgeway Dr., Unit 17/18, Mississauga · Custom Carriage house wood doors 569-9133 JENSEN TIRE Check Us Out!
