The security video was taken July 3, 2005, at 12:25 p.m. Helen's brother, who is accused of killing her and butchering her body, bought a hacksaw less than two hours later. This was among the video evidence the Crown submitted while its last witness took the stand in the second-degree murder trial of George Arsoniadis. George, 30, is charged with second-degree murder in connection with his sister's death. As the court heard earlier from defence attorney Paul O'Marra, he has admitted to causing her death and will argue self defence. He was arrested July 11, 2005. Three quarters of Helen's body is still missing and the other parts, the court has heard, were found boiled and frozen in the penthouse apartment the siblings rented at 40 Old Mill Dr. Det. Constable Maureen Martin, took the jury through a video compiled the day Helen died, including footage from the Oakville condo, IKEA, two No Frills locations and Home Depot. Video from the condo's hallway by the elevator shows Helen and George getting on the elevator after shopping at IKEA and No Frills. "This is the last time Helen Arsoniadis is ever seen on video," Martin told the court. At 1:55 p.m. 90 minutes later George is seen leaving the elevator and heading to the parking garage alone. "He has changed his shirt from a white tank top to a long-sleeved grey shirt," Martin said. Thirty minutes later, the jury saw George on video in Home Depot purchasing a hacksaw.
