Continued from page 26 "The food is good; the music is fabulous; it's a great atmosphere," said Laura Iantorno, of Burlington. "Very New York style." Don Goodale, of Oakville, also enjoyed his experience at the club. "It's really good to see a nice club like this in Oakville," he said. "It's long overdue." With the GTA's club scene largely centered in Toronto, the Speers Road Oakville location may seem away from the action, but Warsh has his reasons for building his club here. "This city is a very wealthy city. It's a very classy city. There's a lot of people that have worked many, many years for their money and there's nothing for them to do in a mature environment where there's good food, there's good people and a good a vibe," he said. "Also, I really got tired of the Toronto scene. Toronto is just over saturated. It's boring; it's monotonous. I've done it for 14 years, so I said, `You know what? Let's do something close to home where I can cater to an upscale clientele." For those upscale clientele who want a more secluded club experience, the Tongue N' Groove has two large private rooms available. "This is our private VIP room for bottle service. You can dine inside here. You can watch the whole party on the big screen," said Warsh gesturing to a large, flat-screen television, hung on the wall of the private room known as the Prive Lounge. DEREK WOOLLAM / OAKVILLE BEAVER GUEST STAR: Rock star and reality TV personality Dave Navarro was on hand for the Tongue N' Groove grand opening Saturday night. He is pictured here with Tania Ziesman at his table. "I really got tired of the Toronto scene. Toronto is just over saturated. It's boring; it's monotonous. I've done it for 14 years, so I said, `You know what? Let's do something close to home where I can cater to an upscale clientele." Jason Troy Walsh (JayT), Tongue N' Groove owner "You've got your own private sound system, your own waitress, your own security guard." The VIP room has the look of a chalet, with two groups of people lounging on the couches in front of a roaring fireplace, surrounded by walls styled to look like rock. The price of an evening in this luxurious space is around $1,200 for a section. At 10:30 p.m. the Prive Lounge and other VIP sections of the club opened up to bottle service with a 1.75L bottle of Grey Goose Vodka going for $500, while a 750ml bottle of Bacardi 8 ran for $225 and a 750ml bottle of Dom Perignon going for $350. Other highlights of the evening included the arrival of Dave Navarro, the former guitarist of Jane's Addiction and the Red Hot Chili Peppers, who posed for photos with some of his young fans before taking up a seat in the VIP section. While the club was steady at 10 p.m., by 11 p.m. it was shoulder to shoulder with club goers 40 years old and over joining 26year-olds on the dance floor. By the end of the evening Warsh had only two words to describe the night. "It's crazy," he said. The Tongue N' Groove, 407 Speers Rd., Unit 4 and 5, is open Thursday through Saturday from 5:30 p.m. to 3 a.m. KEEPING SENIORS INFORMED Our LivingWell Events are Open to the Public Canadian Cancer Society Relay For Life Oakville Unit June 1-2, 2007 Appleby College 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. Look who's on our team!
