We are so lucky to live in a beautiful, historic town by the lake that offers lovely trails, community gathering places, recreation centres and three distinct shopping areas. We are planning three town-sponsored events to commemorate the 150th anniversary: · Oakville's biggest birthday bash on May 27; · The 150th Oakville Waterfront Festival, June 22-24; · The Heritage Hustle on October 14 -- a 5km run/walk and 1.5km family fun walk through our three downtown heritage districts to benefit the R.E.A.C.H. 150th Legacy Fund through The Community Foundation of Oakville (CFO). The three main areas for the May 27th parties are Bronte Village ­ Heritage Park, Kerr Village ­ Trafalgar Park and Downtown Old Oakville ­ Lakeside Park. Music, food and fun including a special welcome to join in with noisemakers, silly hats and costumes. March to Lakeside Park where George Chisholm, our first Mayor, and our Town Crier will be on hand to welcome you to the Founding Family Festival for a fun filled afternoon full of contests, refreshments, games and more. Plus, enjoy cake and giveaways. The mayor will be arriving in a vintage Oakville fire truck to kick off the activities, plant an oak tree and cut the 150th cake at all locations.
