A `Cocktails and Concert' fundraiser takes place at 7:30 p.m., at The Moonshine Café, 137 Kerr St. As the largest children's treatment centre in Ontario, Erinoak provides services, support and therapy for over 8,000 children and youth with special needs. A raffle and draw for some great prizes including a day at the spa from Civello Salon & Spas, a photography session with Larry Abela, of Precious Moments in Time Photography, a gift basket from Starbucks on Westoak Trails, a gift card from The Firehall Restaurant in Bronte, a voucher from Boston Pizza Oakville, a $50 gift card and Guinness fleece pullover from The Stout Monk and a three-month membership for Buckley Jiu-Jitsu. Event organizer James Clark Jones promises a great night that will also help "an under-funded yet essential community organization." Tickets are $40. All proceeds go directly to Erinoak. Above, the RBC team almost wipes out; cheering on the TD team in stilts are Cory and Candice Sheehan; below, the Bank of Nova Scotia team has a riot. Competition was fierce as each bank raced their decorated hospital bed. Together they raised $94,000 for the purchase of new hospital beds at Oakville-Trafalgar Memorial Hospital. Cost of a new bed is $12,000. Also at the races were Oakville Mayor Rob Burton; Toronto Argonauts Coach Mike `Pinball' Clemens and RBC Olympic rower Jacqueline Cook. The Bank Bed Race represents the culmination of four weeks of fundraising known as the Bank Bed Challenge. Best Decorated Bed went to Team Scotia and Best Team Cheer went to Team CIBC. Team BMO picked up the Team Spirit Award and Scotiabank was Top Fundraiser for the second year raising nearly $35,000. Team RBC and Team TD tied for first place. Third place went to Team Scotia while Team CIBC took fourth spot.Team HSBC was presented with the award for Best Display of Sportsmanship.
