The deadline for nominations is Friday, April 27. The Town and awards committee is asking residents to put forth nominations for the award to recognize Oakvillians who have made a contribution to the community. Volunteers from a range of categories will be recognized at the 2007 awards: Arts Awards, sponsored by The Oakville Beaver, Youth Awards, sponsored by RBC Royal Bank; Group Volunteer Award, sponsored by Oakville Financial Centre of Clarica; Individual volunteer Award, sponsored by Paradiso Restaurant; Senior Award, sponsored by Seniors Helping Seniors; Sports Development Award, sponsored by Tim Hortons; and the Heritage and History Award, sponsored by Invidiata Team. The selection committee wants to hear about contributions, whether volunteers are steering a committee or delivering a meal. The Oakville Community Spirit Awards wants to recognized those individuals, organizations, businesses and groups making a contribution. Forms can be filled out online at www.oakville.ca or picked up at Town Hall, all three Oakville Community Centres and Oakville Public Library locations. The selection committee will review all nominations for the awards, which will be held Wednesday, June 13 at the Oakville Conference and Banquet Centre. Tickets cost $30 and include dinner.
