www.oakvillebeaver.com The Oakville Beaver, Friday April 13, 2007 - 9 Renovated LCBO opens at Town Centre The LCBO officially opened its revamped store at 270 North Service Road West in the Oakville Town Centre recently. "The LCBO is constantly evolving to cater to the changing tastes of Ontario consumers and to keep pace with a growing population," says Bob Peter, LCBO President and CEO. "Renovated stores like this one make LCBO shopping more convenient and enjoyable. They also provide a solid return on investment and have helped the LCBO deliver 11 consecutive record dividends to the province, including a $1.2 billion dividend in fiscal 2005-06. This helps to pay for important government programs and services," said Peter. At 11,860 square feet, this renovated store offers customers an additional 3,500 square feet for their shopping enjoyment. The store also offers more than 2,200 wines, spirits, beers and coolers, compared with 1,800 at old store, at the same location. The Vintages section will increase by 200 products to approximately 600 offerings of fine wines and premium spirits. "Our staff are pleased to offer many helpful services and a wide product selection," says Peter. "This store speaks to the vitality of this growing community of more than 57,000 people, which is expected to grow by eight per cent over the next five years. It Store staff members are dedicated to promoting these domestic offerings to customers. The renovated store reflects the evolution of LCBO retailing, drawing on customer and market research to create a convenient and informative, one-stop shopping environment. The LCBO continues to improve its store network, adding new stores and renovating others. More than 20 new and renovated LCBO stores are planned to open this year to better serve customers across Ontario. "Liquor stores are no longer just about bottles on the shelf," says Peter. "The design of our stores and services offered are the product of customer research, which tells us consumers want to learn more about beverage alcohol so they can make informed buying decisions. This is a place where you can quickly pick up your favourite wine, spirit, beer or cooler, get advice on planning a dinner party or improve your product knowledge by sampling new and featured products," he said. All staff are trained to ensure customers are served responsibly. In fiscal 2005-06, more than 1.7 million individuals were checked under the LCBO's Challenge and Refusal program and more than 112,000 were refused service because they could not produce valid proof of age or appeared to be intoxicated.
