Boston Pizza will donate 10 per cent of sales that day to Ground Breakers Oakville. Over the past two and a half years, Ground Breakers has planted more than 2,500 native trees and shrubs in town. Working with a national partner Evergreen and the Town of Oakville, Ground Breakers has eight planting events planned for 2007. Carnival supports nutrition programs The Magical Carnival Company runs April 11 to 15 at the Oakville Entertainment Centrum. Located at 2011 Winston Park Drive, the carnival will run Wednesday, April 11 (Loonie/Toonie Day) from 5-9 p.m.; Thursday, April 12 from 3-9 p.m.; Friday, April 13 from 3-10 p.m.; Saturday, April 14 from 10 a.m.-10 p.m. and Sunday, April 15 from 11 a.m.6 p.m. The event will raise funds for Halton Food For Thought. One million children in Canada live below the poverty line and more than 10 per cent of children and youths arrive at school without breakfast, lunch or snacks to help sustain them for an entire school day. The connection between a healthy diet and a child's ability to learn is well documented. PenEquity Management that owns the Oakville Entertainment Centrum, is donating the space for the carnival, thereby allowing Magical Carnival to donate 15 per cent of ride proceeds to Halton Food For Thought. Funds raised through this event will help launch new programs in area schools. Currently, there are 25 programs in Oakville Schools facilitating breakfast, snack and lunch programs impacting over 4,200 children and youth.
