Head coach Brad MacMaster has nine girls currently working out preparing for the upcoming season, and hopes to find three-tofive more players to fill out the roster. MacMaster, who has just completed his NCCP level II coaching course, is offering a different sort of option for girls 16-and-over who want to play fastball at a competitive level. MacMaster, understanding the demands of school and part-time jobs at this age group, designed a program with that in mind. "This allows them greater flexibility in attending training, practices, games and tournaments," he said, but added, "When on the field, intensity rules." The team may play Tier 1 or 2 fastball this season. The decision on which level to play will be based on team performance and competitive prospects, he said. The Angels' workout schedule includes 1624 weeks of instruction for pitchers and catchers, including up to eight weeks of physical conditioning, 10 weeks of alternating offensive and defensive practice sessions indoors and 1416 weeks of full outdoor team practices once a week.
