Minor atom Rangers enter playoffs on fire The Oakville minor atom AAA Rangers enter the South-Central Triple A (SCTA) playoffs armed with plenty of momentum, having finished the regular season on a seven-game winning streak. Disciplined defensive play and solid goaltending enabled the Rangers to maintain their third-place position in the SCTA standings, four points behind Brampton and Halton. The goaltending tandem of Ben Blacker and Michael Bradshaw combined for seven shutouts in 32 regular-season games, limiting the opposition to one goal in eight other contests. Oakville began its lengthy unbeaten run in midDecember, downing the Halton Hurricanes 5-2. Sam Vasilaros-Wilson, Austin Seaver, Cole Buchan and Boston Elliott scored third-period goals as the Rangers overcame a 2-1 deficit. Oliver Chau had the earlier Oakville marker. In their next game, the Rangers doubled the Hamilton Jr. Bulldogs 4-2. Vasilaros-Wilson enjoyed a three-point evening (goal, two assists), while Ashur Elliot tallied twice and Seaver added a single. Oakville then defeated St. Catharines 5-3, with Buchan leading the way with two goals. Josh Kosack, Dallas Taylor and Vasilaros-Wilson also netted markers. The Rangers ran their win streak to four with a 2-0 blanking of Hamilton. Andrew Dumaresque and Elliot notched the Oakville goals, while Blacker earned the shutout. Blacker was again perfect in the Rangers' next outing, a 3-0 win over Niagara Falls. Vasilaros-Wilson scored twice and Elliot added a first-period tally. The Rangers were tested in their following game but managed to pull out a 4-3 victory over Welland. Chau netted the game-winner in the third period, with other Oakville goals going to Vasilaros-Wilson, Seaver and Elliott. Oakville concluded the regular-season schedule Monday with a 5-2 defeat of the Burlington Eagles. Elliott and Elliot each had three-point games (goal and two assists each) while Taylor had two goals and Buchan chipped in with a single. Contributing assists during the winning streak were Mitchell Prentice, Matthew Spencer, Jesse Barwell, Andrew Burns, Luke Whitehouse and Craig Cook. "The coaches are extremely happy with how much hard work the boys have put into their dry-land and practices," said Oakville assistant coach Duncan Harvey. "Their hard work in preparation has paid off with a solid ending to the regular season. We can't wait to see what the boys have in store for us as we head into the playoffs." www.oakvillehomes.ca Our Picks of the Week · 1182 Woodington Lane - Executive townhouse close to Qew, 403 & 407 · 247 Riverside Drive - Riverfront in downtown Oakville Carol Jones C.R.A., Sales Representative RE/MAX Aboutowne Realty Corp., Brokerage · 905-338-9000 OLYMPIA SERIES by KICHLER y On Sale Now Rita Garami Krisztina Neglia sales representatives Office Direct 905-272-3434 416-570-2221 & Realty Specialists Inc., Brokerage www.SellYourHomeWithUs.ca $26999 MODEL 3278 $34999 $15999 MODEL 3678 MODEL 1679 SNEAK PREVIEW $467,000 Sought after street in River Oaks, unique 2 master layout plus children's wing, 2nd floor laundry, walking distance to fantastic school.
