Those were the sentiments expressed Wednesday night durâ€" ing the presentation of the Halton Regional Police Service 21st Annual Media/Civilian Awards as Benson was recognized posthuâ€" mously for her many accomâ€" plishments â€" not the: â€"least: of which was her work as chair of the _ Iroquois C o mm un ity Consultation Committee. Inside the vehicle was a young child playing with the gearshift. As the car started into oncoming traffic, Tufford stepped out into the road and stopped a truck travâ€" elling toward the car. Tufford then ran after the car and managed to get into the driver seat as it crossed the centre line, stopping the car in the middle of the road. A young man came from a nearby convenience store, got in the car and drove off without a word. The couple was asleep in their Oakville home when they heard a noise and saw a group of youths near a neighbor‘s home. The owner was away and had asked them to keep an eye on the place. As Cora phoned police, Donald watched the group and kept offiâ€" cers who were responding to the call informed about what the youths were up to. As the homeâ€" owner‘s vehicle was being removed from solved over 100 other breakâ€"ins and thefts. Steven and Laura Kozma were similarly honored for their efforts in aiding police arrest a pair of thieves. On July 30, 1993 the Kozmas saw two young men breaking into parked vehicles. They called police and kept the dispatcher up to date on descriptions of the susâ€" pects, their vehicles and their whereabouts. Responding officers caught the two in the act. As a result, more than $600 worth of stolen property was recovered. Further investigation revealed the youths were responâ€" sible for 20 more incidents of theft from vehicles in the Oakville area.
