The Terry Fox Run has become an annual event following the death, from cancer, of the celebrated one- legged runner who began his cross- Canada Marathon of Hope on April 12, 1980, in St John’s, Nfld. Over $8.5 million was raised worldwide in 1993. Ontario raised $3.6 million last year, despite tough economic times. All funds raised go to the National Cancer Institute of Canada Mom-Vlad.
