With two downtown criteriums recently folding in Toronto, Jackson feels there‘s a void which Oakville â€" with its charming downtown â€" is more than equipped to fill. Although this is the kickâ€"off event, organizers have aimed high by including all the categories so that all cycling enthusiasts can parâ€" ticipate. After all, relates Jackson, the whole purpose is to get as many people involved in cycling as possiâ€" ble. * Check out our local cycling stars and some of the visiting teams that will be competing in the Weekend paper. Besides the elite cycling action, there will be plenty of else to do for spectators. He just happens to wear two hats, as a merchant member of the Downtown BIA and a racer with the Oakyville Cycling Club. The only unfortunate part for him is that he‘s so busy organizing he concedes "I won‘t be racing Sunday." A lot of the stores will have speâ€" cial promotions, he added. In the latter race, a full slate of 120 riders is expected, said Jackson. with a 30â€"lap circuit (40 km.).
