Although Oakville ran out of pitching and was soundly defeated in the championship game, the team played exceptional ball over the entire weekend against outstanding comâ€" petition. The team made it to the finals with an 8â€"2 win over Thornhill, 1â€"1 draw with Peterborough, 10â€"0 whitewash _ of Birchmount/Scarborough. That sent them on to the semiâ€"final game where they edged Windsor 7â€"6. Robert Kapuscinski had three hits with sinâ€" gles to Shaun Benay, Mike Bondarenko, Jonathan Cooke, Peter Kissel and Marc Walton. RBis went to Walton (2), Benay and Kapuscinski. The entire team played very unselfishly, advancing runners and sacrificing at bats, when called upon. Game MVP Shaun Benay crushed a monster home run over the centre field fence in the fifth inning to tie the game. Bobby Chapelle scored the game winner with an explosive solo shot over the left field fence to give Oakville the lead. Fine Oakville pitching came from starter Jordan Strofolino and relievâ€" er Shaun Benay. Closer Peter Kissel pitched out of a jam with two men on in the final inning to secure the win for Oakville. In regular league action, Oakville continâ€" ued its winning streak, rolling ‘over their Milton counterparts with an impressive 11â€"6 victory last week. Oakville‘s Peter Kissel, Josh Crowley and Shaun Benay all went to the mound for a comâ€" bined three hit, 11 strikeout victory. At the same time, Oakville‘s bats were also > popping. Marc Walton drove in three runs on two singles. Shaun Benay and Rob Kapuscinski each had two RBI‘s on singles and doubles. Peter Kissel drove in two runs on two well hit singles. Jordan Strofolino punched three hot singles through the infield and drove in a run while Bobby continued to lay the aluminum into Milton‘s pitching with two singles and double for one RBI. Leadâ€"off hitter Jonathan Cooke hit two loud singles and came in to score on each of them. In addition to making his pitching debut, Josh Crowley hit a hot single. Mike Bondarenko drew two very important walks and came in to score after stealing both secâ€" ond and third base in the fourth inning. Scott Wallace made some outstanding defensive plays, especially in snaring a high throw to first in the sixth to record the third out of the inning and save at least two runs from scoring. As in the preVIous game, unselfish team play, timely hits, patient at bats for walks, aggressive base stealing and running comâ€" bined with solid pitching secured the win for Oakville. Draw in Woodbridge Oakville‘s underâ€"19 rep soccer team fought Woodbridge to a 1â€"1 tie Tuesday night.
