By NORMAN NELSON Oakville Beaver Sports Editor The common thread of all four swimmers, who are in the second day of their threeâ€"day meet today, is that at this winter‘s Ontario high school championships in Sudbury, all were draped in gold at the end of at least one event. For Stratten, it was gold in both the 100m back and the 100m indiâ€" vidual medley â€" the same two events she‘s competing in Cyprus. Queen Elizabeth Park High School has long been a force on the provincial swimming scene, and now they‘re in Cyprus trying to conquer the world. Three of the school‘s top swimâ€" mers â€" David Balne, Hilary O‘Byrne and Cassidy Syer â€" are part of a 24â€"member (12 boys, 12 girls) Ontario high school team presently competing in the high school version of the Olympic Games. For Balne, it was gold in the 200 metre freestyle. In Cyprus he‘s competing in the 100m freestyle and is a member of the 4x100 freestyle relay and the 4x100m medley relay teams. Completing the local contingent is Taryn Stratten of Burlington‘s Aldershot high school. QEP at international meet ~SPORTS Oakville‘s Crusaders fell to the English and the Irish in a hectic weekend of rugby.
