The regional chairman‘s lawyer, William MacDonald, requested that his client be excused, on the advice of his doctor, due to health problems brought about by stress. Judge William Sharpe granted the request prior to remanding the case over to April 18th. A ban on publication of eviâ€" dence was imposed by the judge at the outset of the hearing. Pomeroy faces three charges of breach of trust, and two of acceptâ€" ing a secret commission. He was charged last May following an investigation by a joint forces police team set up to probe allegaâ€" tions of political corruption in the Greater Toronto Area. Also charged with breach of trust and offering a secret commisâ€" sion are Halton Hills lawyer Herbert Arnold; Pomeroy‘s wife Pat Crimmins, who is also Halton‘s deputy clerk, faces one count of offering a secret commission; and developer Albert Tennant faces one count of offerine a secret commisâ€" It is expected the judge‘s ruling will take place on another date folâ€" lowing April 18th. All services and supplies for the dinner are donated by Angelo Rizzuti, owner of LeDome, and the event is held in honor of his father, the late John Rizzuti.
