Blood donors come to rescue of Red Cross Oakville blood donors have responded to an urgent plea by the Red Cross to alleviate a critical shortage at the Toronto and Southern Ontario Blood Centre. On Monday, a special Red Cross blood donor clinic collected 168 units from 181 donors. Clinic goal was 120 donors. "The clinic was a huge success," says Brenda Dunsdon, of the Oakville Red Cross. "People were lined up, our workers didn‘t leave until 9:45 p.m. It was the largest clinic in the Toronto area on Monday." The clinic occurred the day the Red Cross issued an urgent appeal, via the media, for more blood. The Kidcheck clinic at Lockwood Chrysler In an effort to further educate Oakville and Halton Region parents on the dangers of abduction, Child Find Ontario will hold a Kidcheck fingerprinting clinic at Oakville‘s Lockwood Chrysler, on Jan. 29th, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Lockwood Chrysler is located at 175 Wyecroft Rd., just west of Kerr Street. Child Find volunteers will be on hand to fingerprint children accomâ€" panied by their parent(s) or legal guardian, as well as, to distribute child safety tips on how parents can protect their children against the dangers of the street. The Kidcheck program is available free of charge, but donations are welcome to help cover our costs. Child Find Ontario Inc., is a non profit registered charitable volunâ€" teerâ€"based organization dedicated to reducing the incidence of missing and abducted children by assisting in the search and recovery process for missing children, as well as, by educating on the dangers of abducâ€" tion in an effort to minimize that risk.
