Considering all the current interest in education, some representatives from Halton should have been on the panel. Both subjects create very firm emotionâ€" ally based feelings in most people, myself includ- ed. I- did not see the Humane Society program that was referred to, but I have seen others in the past. The point I have always felt was trying to be made â€" is that unwanted animals are born to the pet owners that don’t bother, or cannot afford, to get their pet neutered/spayed â€" and if this simple operation were performed before any litters were born, then there would not be the need for the ter- mination of these innocent victims. Prevent pregnancy instead of aborting For the life of me, I cannot understand why this operation is not done for free. I think the cost of preventing this tragedy is what causes this tragedy to be repeated over and over. With animals, we are in a position to take mat- ters into our own hands before the unwanted preg- nancy occurs, whereas with humans, we cannot prevent unwanted pregnancies with as much con- trol â€" whether they be due to carelessness, vio- lence, or the cost of preventative measures. Therefore, we have many women facing the dilemma of an unplanned pregnancy for various reasons, and they are left'with three options: 1.
