14 Independent & Free Press, Wednesday, August 29, 2007 It's back to school for adults too For parents of school-aged children, fall means back to school, spending many hours finding and purchasing the clothes and supplies their children will need. For parents with low literacy skills, there are additional concerns: "Will I be able to help my children with their school assignments?" "How will I teach my child how to read?" Literacy North Halton (LNH) can help. The agency offers upgrading opportunities for adults who want to improve their reading, writing, math and basic computer skills. Whether or not you have school-aged kids, Literacy North Halton can assist. You may be thinking in terms of looking for a new job but have no computer skills and don't know where to start? You may need to brush up on your reading and writing skills to find a job, or for everyday activities. LNH offers small group computer classes both daytime and evening for those adults wishing to improve their computer literacy skills. 905-873-2200 Thinking of applying to college? Friends and neighbours were invited to join the owners of the three houses to celebrate with a barbecue and party. The three houses were built by Sykes and Ainley Woollen Mills as housing for workers brought from Yorkshire, England. In 1964 all three houses were bought by Sheridan Nurseries as housing for their seasonal workers. In 1982, the properties were sold to individual owners.
