Acton/Georgetown, Friday, July 20, 2007 25 SENIORS LIFESTYLES Senior of the Year Pauline Robinson (centre) was recently surprised to be named Halton Hills' Senior of the Year, as Halton Hills mayor Rick Bonnette and Ward 2 councillor Joan Robson presented her with the honours. Robinson has been an active volunteer over the years, serving Habitat for Humanity, Canada Day in Glen Williams, United Way, and St. Alban's Church in Glen Williams. Robinson is also a canvasser for Heart and Stroke, the co-ordinator of Volunteers for St. Alban's and the co-publisher of The Glen Holler. She was also a Citizen of the Year in Glen Williams four years ago. The Senior of the Year recognition is from the Province of Ontario and goes to one senior who continues to actively volunteer in each municipality. As a result, all residents at the Bennett Centre now have the new beds. On hand for the presentation were (from left), Bennett Centre administrator Mark Ewer, and resident Margery Shrubsole, Branch 120 Ladies Auxiliary president Mary Russell, Branch 120 second vicepresident Doug Weir and president Wade Bond. The donation was made possible through the generosity of the Ontario Provincial Command Branches, and the Ladies Auxiliary Charitable Foundation of the Royal Canadian Legion. Every year, Hardstaff hosts members and volunteers of the Wheels to Meals program, enjoying her back yard instead of the twice-monthly outting to a local restaurant.
