22 Acton/Georgetown, Friday, June 29, 2007 Bulldogs open series tonight Churches & Temples Georgetown Alliance Church St. George's Anglican Church Sunday Worship* at 10:00 am *Nursery & Jr. Worship for children The final regular-season statistics for the Ontario Lacrosse Association's Jr. B league have been released and the numbers bode well for the Halton Hills Bulldogs on the eve of their playoff matchup with the Oakville Buzz. Finishing fifth in the league's East Conference, the 14-60 Bulldogs were the second highest scoring team in the entire 26-team loop and were fourth best in goals against in the OLA. Bulldog Nic Grasby was sixth in the league in scoring with 29 goals and 37 assists. Fourth-place Oakville, however, took three of four regular-season meetings against Halton Hills and the defending Founders Cup-champion Buzz hosts game one tonight (Friday) at the Glen Abbey Rec Centre at 8 p.m. Game two of the best-of-five set goes Wednesday at Georgetown's Mold-Masters SportsPlex starting at 8 p.m., with game three next Friday in Oakville. 60 Guelph Street, Georgetown 905-877-8044 Additional parking at Georgetown District High School www.stgeorgesgeorgetown.com TNT can't stop 'Cats Rob Cutting rushed for two second-half touchdowns and Billy Pavlopoulos kicked two field goals as the Halton Hills JV Wildcats captured a 24-14 win over the TNT Express in Tottenham. The win improved the Wildcats record to 2-2, pending the outcome of a protest filed a week ago by the club against the Mississauga Warriors. John Leckie had the other touchdown for the Wildcats. After TNT opened the game with a touchdown, the Wildcats countered with a 30-yard field goal from Pavlopoulos. Leckie then scored on a 40-yard run to put the visitors ahead 9-7 before a second Pavlopoulos field goal earned Halton Hills its 12-7 half-time lead. The Express converted a fourth-and-11 situation into a touchdown to go ahead 14-12, but a failed fourthdown gamble on the home team's next drive gave the Wildcats possession in TNT territory. Cutting's 35-yard run up the middle regained the lead for Halton Hills, then Cutting cemented the victory with another long TD run. The Wildcats play tomorrow (Saturday) in Toronto against the undefeated Jr. Argos (4-0). Fri. June 29 - Fri. Impact Black started off by winning its preliminaryround pool, knocking off two Pennsylvania squads and another from New Jersey. They then went 2-1 in the next round of the tourney to qualify for the final day of play. In the round of 16, Georgetown downed a team from Philadelphia before turning in what was likely its best effort of the season in the quarterfinals by beating previously undefeated Virginia Elite 25-12, 25-22. The Impact Black's fine run was halted in the final four by the number-one seed from Washington/Baltimore 25-18, 25-13. Coached by Patty Hall and Kevin Hughes, Georgetown's under-15s entered 11 tournaments this year, coming away with two gold medals, two silver and four bronze.
