Essiembre, a small forward on the senior Bearcats basketball team was chosen for scoring 19 points against MDHS, leading his team to a win. Soderholm, a power on the junior Bearcats volleyball team, was selected for her good hitting and passing against ECD recently. Georgetown District High School Athletes of the Week Jake Harding and Sarah Traynor. Harding, who plays forward in the Rebels midget basketball team, was recognized for scoring 16 points at the ECD tournament. Traynor, a middle on the Rebels midget volleyball team, was selected for her good hitting and serving against CtK. Christ the King Athletes of the Week are Courtnie Maljar and Kyle Marples. Maljar, a middle on the senior jaguars volleyball team, was chosen for her leadership and holding the team together against BR. Marples, a defenseman on the Jaguars boys hockey team, was selected for his strong defense at a tournament in a tournament at Waterloo. Pat and Brian Lang from Georgetown, are pleased to announce the engagement of their daughter Katie Meloche to Brian Sweeney, son of Anne and Bill Sweeney from Brampton.
