Break-in at local restaurant under construction nets thieves $50,000 in kitchen equipment Halton Police report approximately $50,000 in kitchen equipment and tools was taken from the Kelsey's Restaurant under construction on Guelph St. during a break-in sometime between Saturday and Monday. A chain on the main door was cut to gain entry. Kitchen equipment taken included an Imperial steakhouse broiler, heavy duty hot plate, infrared cheese melter/broiler, heavy duty griddle, portable food warmer and commercial Panasonic microwave. Police say more than one person would have been involved in the theft as the items ranged in weight from 300 to 500 lbs. Drills and saws were among the tools taken. ··· Police report $20,000 in industrial tools and equipment was taken from a locked storage garage at R & B Construction on Trafalgar Rd. at approximately 7:45 p.m. last Friday. Items taken included a Honda generator and gas pump. Padlocks were cut to gain entry. ··· A $600 LCD television and a quantity of cash were taken from Georgetown Volkswagen on Guelph St. during a break-in sometime Sunday or Monday. It's unknown how entry was gained. ··· Police report there was an attempted break and enter at Concept Ford sometime between Saturday and Monday. An unsuccessful attempt was made to pry open a door and an overhead door. Damage was minimal. ··· A Brampton man was charged with impaired driving after police stopped a vehicle on Queen St. in Acton early last Wednesday morning. Charged with impaired driving, having over 80 mg of alcohol in 100 ml of blood and breach of probation is Corey Ray Naess, 42, of Pepperwood Place. Damage set at $80,000 in Acton dump truck blaze An $80,000 1998 Peterbuilt Tri-Axle dump truck parked in a Fourth Line, Acton driveway was extensively damaged Saturday evening by a fire in the cab and engine compartment. The wife of the truck's owner called the fire department at approximately 7:30 p.m. when she discovered the truck burning. The cab and engine compartment were fully engulfed in flames when firefighters arrived. The truck had been parked by the owner at about 3 p.m. after being washed and fuelled.
