Rees, Miller earn firsts Georgetown Skating Club members Bethany Rees and Emma Miller took top spot in their respective classes at the recent Keswick Invitational Skate, which is the third-largest competition in Skate Canada's Central Ontario Section, involving 500 skaters from across Ontario. Egg Nog Jog goes Sunday The Georgetown Runners are set to stage their 24th annual Egg Nog Jog Sunday, a 10.8-km run around the Terra Cotta Conservation Area. Scheduled for 10:30 a.m., the race will award medals for the top three males and females in each of the fiveyear age groups. A new High School Division has been added for 2006 in a team format with five members per side. There will also be a "One Mile Smile" race for kids with a $2 entry fee. Fry. Nixon, setter on the Bearcats volleyball team was chosen for his outstanding performance at OFFSA. Fry, a point guard on the basketball team, was selected for his 10 points against ECD and 18 point game against MDHS. Georgetown District High School Athletes of the Week are Chelsea Jensen and Devon Rattie. Jensen, a right side/middle on the Rebels junior volleyball team, was cited for her good hitting against AHS, while Rattie, a power on the senior Rebels volleyball team, was recognized for good hitting, passing and spiking at OFSAA. Christ the King Athletes of the Week are Chase Downton and Dayna Noltie. Downton, a centre on the senior Jaguars basketball team, was chosen for his 15 rebounds against ECD. Noltie, a labaro on the junior Jags volleyball team was selected for her leadership and powerful serving against BR.
